Title: "The Games that Entropy Plays."

Abstract: Entropy is a cruel master or mistress, depending on one's particular persuasion. On the one hand, entropy cannot be beaten, even when it tempts you into thinking it can be; while on the other hand, the study of entropy can bring great rewards in the fields of physics & chemistry, data compression, image & signal processing. The lecturer will describe various measures of entropy and outline interdisciplinary applications of such measures.
