Barbara Mones-Hattal

Barbara Mones-Hattal has been working to develop innovative applications of emerging technologies in computer graphics and animation since 1980. Since 1984, she has been very active in ACM SIGGRAPH, an international computer graphics organization, as the Special Projects Chair of the Education Committee. She compiled the SIGGRAPH Art Directory for artists using computer graphics and is an active member of the SIGGRAPH Art Show Committee. She has served on the SIGGRAPH Electronic Theater committee and produced an international animation in which twenty-three schools and over a hundred students participated.

She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and post-graduate studies in three dimensional computer modeling, animation, and multimedia. Most recently, she has been investigating unique emerging design issues in the installation of multimedia environments for education, including museum installations. In addition to the founding director of the Masters Program in Visual Information Technologiesis, she serves as an associate professor at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
